Emergency Medical Responder – Initial Course

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) is the first level of certified emergency medical care, which often are the first to arrive when 911 is called.

EMRs provide lifesaving care to help stabilize a patient in an emergency before they are transported to a hospital. This includes controlling bleeding, splinting injuries, getting vital signs, treating shock and cardiac arrest, and more.

Police officers, firefighters, and some ambulance responders are often required to have minimum certification as an EMR. It’s also the perfect level of training for leaders of company emergency teams, disaster program volunteers, large event staff, or student groups.

Our EMR course usually takes about two to three months to complete, and consists of a series of in-person classes and skill sessions. We require students to be 16 or older (minors must have a parent/guardian sign the class release in person).
